New Coast Kitchen

Best for: Late risers (brunch is served till 2.30pm)

Dish to order: Shakshuka washed down with an Italian Spritz

One of our most visited brunch spots in Woolacombe, mainly because I’m completely obsessed with their shakshuka. The prettiest place to eat near No.9 Putsborough, it’s stylish but never too posh for breakfast. As well as lighter bites like homemade granola or fluffy pancakes, there’s also miso aubergine hash and mushroom and truffle croque monsieur — ensuring plenty of plant-based, vegetarian and gluten-free brunch options in North Devon. Cafe above the Beach, Woolacombe

Best for: One to watch

Woolacombe Beach is currently undergoing a major redevelopment of its iconic beachside facilities — and we’re very ready for the new café and restaurant space to open above the sand.

The brand-new coastal hub will include a modern beachside café, restaurant, surf school, shops and food outlets, all positioned just steps from the beach with sweeping sea views across Woolacombe Bay.

Whether it’s post-surf coffee, beach brunches, pastries after a morning walk or sunset drinks overlooking the dunes, this already feels set to become a favourite spot for the best breakfasts and brunch in Woolacombe.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on who takes over the space once the development is complete.
